Built in 1770, the Burgwin-Wright house was Lord Cornwallis' headquarters before his defeat at Yorktown, Virginia. The house has been beautifully restored and visitors can enjoy the Georgian style architecture, the orchard and the gardens.

The new, 10-acre campus Louise Wells Cameron Art Museum opened its doors in 2002. The 42,00 square foot museum space houses a permanent collection of North Carolina and American art. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday.

The museum was founded in 1962 and contains work from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Only 11% percent of their total collection is on display.
