    The Latimer House, built in 1852, has 14 rooms that contain historic objects including furniture, jewelry, tools and more. Tours run from Monday through Saturday and the house is available for weddings or other special occasions.

    The Children's Museum of Wilmington

    This interactive museum for children features a lego room, a pirate ship, a dress up area, a gravity wall and a puppet theater. The museum is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sundays 12pm to 6pm. Admission is $8 per person. Groups of 15 or more $6 per child. Discounts for seniors and military personnel. Call for summer camps and special events.

    The purpose of this art museum is to collect, document, preserve and exhibit art from North Carolina. They have been performing these duties for over 37 years. The museum was founded in 1962 and contains work from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Only 11% percent of their total collection is on display.

    Louise Wells Cameron Art Museum

    The new, 10-acre campus Louise Wells Cameron Art Museum opened its doors in 2002. The 42,00 square foot museum space houses a permanent collection of North Carolina and American art. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday.

    Wilmington Railroad Museum

    The Railroad Museum examines Wilmington's railroad history. The railroad played a large role in the development of the city, at one point even serving as a major supplier to Confederate armies in Virginia during the Civil War. The museum is home to a large collection of memorabilia.

    Burgwin-Wright Museum House & Gardens

    Built in 1770, the Burgwin-Wright house was Lord Cornwallis' headquarters before his defeat at Yorktown, Virginia. The house has been beautifully restored and visitors can enjoy the Georgian style architecture, the orchard and the gardens.
